STORY

THE BEAST PAGEANT is about a man who goes on an adventure.

Abraham lives deep in the heart of an industrial wasteland. His only companion is a giant machine. Inside the machine is a man and a woman who take care of Abraham's every need. Abraham drifts through daily life until a tiny singing cowboy bursts from his stomach and leads him into the wild.

THE BEAST PAGEANT is a feature film full of fantastical characters, costumes, puppetry, animation and original music. It was shot on 16mm with a Bolex camera rescued from a dumpster. Albert Birney and Jon Moses wrote and directed it together in Rochester, New York. Jon plays Abe and wrote the music. Albert handled camera duty. Eric Laplante did lighting and additional cinematography. Phil Davis did the animations. Vanessa Lauria produced and did costumes. Nick Krill recorded the music in an old farm house. Emily Osinski plays the Machine Woman and Ted Greenway plays the Machine Man. Brad Ward plays the Egg Man, Jon Eaton plays the Artichoke Man and S. Michael Smith plays the Watermelon Man. Ron Bauerle is The Milk Mother and Sam Hughes is The Beast King. All sets were built by hand in an old brick building.
